Lamplas moved to High Spen in 1974, moving into the old Co-op buildings at Collingdon Road and started an additional line in producing gas bottle covers for the UK touring caravan market. Lamplas continued expanding over the next few years and additional buildings were purchased at Ramsay St where the finishing, dispatch and head office were located, the pattern and mould dept moved to a building in Glossop Street.
Due to continuing expansion in the leisure industry with the introduction of multiple components for the caravan and motorhome market, Lamplas relocated to Leadgate where they purchased a former factory located at Pont Lane giving them 55,000 sq ft of production space.
By this time Lamplas were suppling to over 60% of the caravan and motorhome market and were quickly running out of space at Pont Factory. A second factory was located at Castleside where the larger components were relocated to be manufactured, finished and dispatched.
Lamplas diversified into a new process and started producing solid surface worktops and door surrounds, by 2007 the company were producing a range of wash basins for a large UK bathroom furniture manufacturer and continuing to grow that side of the business.
When the factory unit next door became available, Lamplas saw an opportunity and purchased it. Pont Lane factory was sold and all GRP production was moved to factory no 1, the head office and casting were moved to factory no 2 giving a total of 70,000 sq ft of production space.
The solid surface dept further increased in capacity by launching it's own range of bathroom basins and winning new business with a bath design group, manufacturing for them a large range of free standing baths.
The company continues to grow with the addition of new products and processes and has diversified into many new markets, however our roots remain firmly in the leisure industry where we have built up many long term relationships.
